China Day 20: TV Tower and Karaoke!

Our field trip for the day was to the TV Tower and to the Shanghai Municipal Museum under the TV Tower. It was rainy though, so the whole "view from the TV Tower" was a terrible, terrible fail. Alas, Professor Sheehan could not control the weather, so what are you going to do? The museum was cool though! Like something from Disneyland kind of. xD

Up to the TV Tower we go!
Fog fail. :(
But you can kind of still make things out.

The glass floor was still cool though!
Shoe picture! :D
Purty~
And there was a random arcade on the bottom of the TV Tower

The girls took the opportunity to take sticker pictures. :P

Wedding carriage in the museum!

This exhibit was titled "Farmer's Fun." Clearly no romanticization of the past in these museums

The murals were very nice~

I loved their architecture models!

Chinese medicine shop!
The Bund in model form during the day :)
The Bund in model form at night :D

We had dinner at this fancy restaurant near the TV Tower, and apparently we crashed not one, but two, wedding receptions.

View from the restaurant!
Weddings!

Herro TV Tower~
It started drizzling a little bit, so a few people went back to the bus early while the rest of us went on a river walk to see the Bund. Given the dreary conditions, it didn't look too spectacular. I like it a lot more at night!

Group picture! x)
After we got back, some of us wanted to go karaoke. The place was only a little ways down the street from our hotel, on the sixth floor. We went upstairs and wth, MOST LEGIT KARAOKE PLACE EVER. Being used to the run-down Korean places with few customers and the giant book of songs with plastic sheets where you input numbers onto a remote, I was a little overwhelmed by this place with the shiny white tiled waiting room (the fact that there was a wait- mind blown), super nice and clean rooms and the fancy computer touch screen song selection method with a database of countless songs. Also three hours for $9 USD per person on a Friday night, which is prime time = amazing. So much fun!

Chinese songs I actually know!! 殺手 by JJ Lin!!
There was a bar!
The room was really big~
Karaoke group! xD
I loved these guys on the trip. The old married couple.
:D!
We ended around 12:30 am and I didn't end up sleeping until 1:00 am-ish. A few of us were going to Hangzhou the next day and had to wake up early so I went to bed pretty quickly after karaoke!
